As media content, primarily on-demand TV, has moved online, it was of no real surprise that live cable TV was next to follow and move to the Internet. Online live TV companies want to offer you cheaper and better deals than your current cable provider, but allow you access to the same or similar content over the Internet. In this website, I will discuss how online live TV streaming services have taken over the market in the last few years and how they will continue to dominate the market as regular cable starts to become obsolete.

What I personally expected to find from researching this area was that cable TV was still winning significantly in numbers of subscribers and trends across the United States versus the new streaming services. What I actually found was fascinating and surprised me.

Why this matters to me

I’ve worked in semi-professional video production for some years, both as a freelancer and under contract to local TV stations and video production companies. I have lived through the transition of video from broadcast-only to early Internet video offerings, and now mass media consumption. For reasons of professional interest, personal curiosity, and of course, being a consumer myself, I’m fascinated to see how the industry evolves.
